Bangor, Maine: We seek an experienced CONTROLLER for a key Finance position in a large, respected Community Health Center system in Maine’s third largest city. This mission-driven organization provides a wide range of healthcare services to thousands of area residents – regardless of their ability to pay. Services include all-ages primary care/walk-in care, addiction treatment and recovery, dental care, women’s health, mental healthcare and more. Prior healthcare accounting experience is required. Candidates with a Master’s Degree in Accounting and/or CPA credentials will receive priority attention!

As an important member of the executive team, you will be responsible for effectively managing ALL accounting functions and providing accurate, timely financial information to the CFO. Several members of the accounting team will report directly to you, so management, leadership and staff development skills/experience are important. You must be organized, reliable and efficient – prepared to carry out multiple complex project management tasks simultaneously, with little supervision.

The overarching goal is to have you responsibly lead a team and manage the day-to-day activities within the Finance department. You will oversee A/P, purchasing, payroll, cash projections/cash management, and monthly and annual financial processes including development, monitoring, auditing and analysis, budget development/review, forecasting and functioning, tax prep/filing, etc. In this partially grant-funded organization (5% of annual operating budget) you will assure financial integrity and meet grant, reimbursement and regulatory requirements.

The right candidate will have excellent communication skills, and personality too! You will make occasional presentations, and you will be an important advocate for improvements and exciting new initiatives. You will be an internal consultant to other departments on finance-related objectives and strategy.
