About Our Career Opportunity: Our clinic has an immediate opening for a Medical Director. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced physician who desires to serve their community. The Medical Director has direct impact on most vulnerable in our community by providing direct patient care, supervising other healthcare professionals, coordinating care in a multi-discipline facility, and setting of policies and protocols. This position will be largely responsible for ensuring the reputation of the clinic is above repute in the healthcare community.A successful candidate must hold the degee of either a Doctorate of Medicine or a Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine. Experience in either Family or Internal Medicine is preferred. They must hold a current Tennessee license or be willing to obtain said license. The candidate must be in good standing in the medical community.Compensation and benefits are competitive. This position does not take after hours calls.

Medical Director

The Medical Director is responsible for clinical oversight of the clinic, providing quality care as well as monitoring and improving the level of care provided. The Medical Director is responsible for the clinical oversight of advanced practitioners and other clinical staff, providing guidance, training, and continued education as needed. The Medical Director must work closely with the executive management team to implement strategies that enhance patient care, improve operations, increase patients served and maintain the reputation of the clinic.

Requirements

· Hold a degree of either a Doctorate of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine

· Maintain an active license to practice medicine in the state of Tennessee

· Maintain a current DEA license

· Must be in good standing in the medical field and able to obtain malpractice insurance

· Preferred but not required board certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine.

Direct Patient Care

· Provide quality, comprehensive, and multidisciplinary care to the un-insured and underprivileged population.

· Perform physical examinations and obtain complete medical histories and record findings of patients to evaluate health and diagnose illnesses.

· Determines preliminary diagnose and therapeutic plans by obtaining, interpreting, and integrating data.

· Maintain and review patient’s records, charts, and other pertinent information.

· Proficiency in electronic medical records.

· Determine, plan, and initiate appropriate treatment, and adjust treatment if necessary.

· Prescribe and dispense medications.

· Order diagnostic tests as needed and document results in an appropriate timeframe.

· Educate, instruct, and counsel patients and families on presenting health problems, treatment plans, and home care.

· Encourage and promote preventative health care and positive, health behaviors.

· Be familiar and utilize the community resources to meet patient and family needs.

· Make appropriate referrals to specialty physicians as needed and track results.

In-Direct Patient Care

· Work directly with medical providers and clinical staff to educate them on care processes and improve overall care quality.

· Recruit, train, and educate volunteer physicians to provide services within the clinic.

· Manage non-clinical activities related to the delivery of medical care and clinical services such as cost management, utilization review, and quality assurance.

· Develop and update clinical protocols, policies and procedures as needed.

· Supervise advance practitioners consistent with state and federal laws, providing consults, setting goals and expectations.

· Provide indirect supervision of the mental health provider through consults, setting goals and expectations, and working closely with the Mental Health Provider Committee.

· Oversight of the dispensary to ensure the clinic has the appropriate medications for treatment in the office and distribution as appropriate.

· Work with Practice Manager to ensure appropriate clinical staffing and training.

Management/Other Duties

· Participate in various administrative and clinical staff meetings.

· Work with various stakeholders to develop growth strategy of the medical/mental health services.

· Develop and implement quality improvement program for medical and mental health services with the appropriate stakeholders.

· Maintain confidentiality of all information related to participants, clinical staff, and employees.

· Participate in Board of Director meetings in conjunction with the Executive Director.

· Promote a professional and welcoming atmosphere that enhances the quality of service and care our patients deserve.

· Develop relationships with other non-profit clinics and medical community at large.

· Demonstrate positive interpersonal relations in dealing with fellow employees, supervisors, medical staff, dental staff, and dispensary staff.

· Recruit medical staff volunteers including off-site specialists.

· Represent the clinic to news media, other organizations and donors as requested by Board or Executive Director.

· Work to fulfill the mission of the clinic. Be able to articulate the mission to staff, volunteers, and community at large.

· Other responsibilities as necessary to maintain a well-functioning clinic, cohesive team and serve the underprivileged population.
