The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of South Alabama, College of Medicine is currently recruiting for a Division Director for our growing Maternal Fetal Medicine Division at the level of Associate or Full Professor. The leader of the Division will be responsible for the clinical growth of the Maternal Fetal Medicine Division, and will be clinically active in the full spectrum of Maternal Fetal Medicine and Obstetrics including prenatal diagnosis and ultrasound skills, outpatient and inpatient consultations for high risk pregnancies, managing our antepartum service, surgical interventions including cerclage placement as well as obstetrical procedures. The successful candidate should have a strong interest in medical and student education and facilitation of clinical trials. The Division Director will work closely with the Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology in these areas as well as faculty development within the division. Special interests in genetics and opioid use during pregnancy are potential areas of growth. There are several new initiatives in our department including Telemedicine and Centering Pregnancy. We have a robust referral base for high risk pregnancies encompassing South Central Alabama and the Gulf Coast.
Our antepartum and Labor and Delivery Units are located at our free-standing Children's and Women's Hospital at the University of South Alabama, which is one of a few free-standing hospitals in the U.S. dedicated specifically to the health needs of children and women. The Level III NICU has a capacity of 130 beds. Our faculty practices and AIUM ultrasound units are located in the newly constructed, state of the art Strada Patient Care Center. USA Children's and Women's Hospital is part of the USA Health System. Our department has a strong commitment towards providing high quality medical care to the women of Mobile and the surrounding Gulf Coast and integrating research and education in Women's Health for the next generation of physicians. We have active divisions in Maternal Fetal Medicine, General Obstetrics and Gynecology Surgery, Urogynecology, Reproductive Endocrinology as well as Gynecology Oncology services through USA Health Mitchell Cancer Institute.
Qualified candidates must have an MD/DO degree, successfully completed a 4-year ACGME accredited Obstetrics and Gynecology resident program and completed an ABOG recognized Maternal Fetal Medicine program. Candidate must be Board Certified in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and Maternal Fetal Medicine. Licensure by the Alabama Medical Board will be required prior to commencement of employment.
