Augusta, Maine: We invite an Inpatient Neurologist to practice as a Hospitalist in in Maine's dynamic capital city. Join a superb team of 3 outpatient Neurologists who specialize in general neurology, movement disorders, MS & immune-neurology and stroke. Become part of the superb medical staff of Maine’s newest hospital – a 192-bed regional medical center – just five years old. This physician-led medical center is Maine’s third largest healthcare system, and provides full service neurodiagnostics (including routine and ambulatory EEGs, sleep studies and evoked potentials).
We are offering a convenient weekday schedule with NO night or weekend call, and no admitting either – that is managed by hospitalists, surgeons, primary care or critical care specialists as appropriate.
You will round on inpatients, performing consultations and evaluations, and providing care to those with neurological issues or concerns. You will interact with many members of the medical/clinical staff, and will communicate the patient’s health and treatment plan to the care team, plus the patient and/or family in a way that all will understand. An ideal candidate will also be able to read EEG’s.
This medical center is home to an unopposed Family Medicine Residency Program. Our neurologists teach medical residents and educate our ED staff and members of the Code 99 & Rapid Response teams. The hospital participates in the Joint Commission disease-specific accreditation process, seeking, obtaining and maintaining Acute Stroke Ready Hospital Certification. We also manage an acute telemedicine program for stroke care in the emergency department.
