Center is a community health center south of Boston that serves a diverse population of mostly low-income patients. We are located 20 minutes South of Boston. The services provided include adult medicine, obstetrics-gynecology, pediatrics, behavioral health, optometry, and dental services. We are using NextGen's EMR.
The psychiatrist provides medical care and treatment to Brockton Neighborhood Health Center patients in accordance with professional standards and established Brockton Neighborhood Health Center policies and procedures. The psychiatrist works in collaboration with the Primary Care Physicians and the Social Workers to provide comprehensive and appropriate continuum of care.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Respond to patient referrals from Social Workers by assessing and evaluating all relevant information.
Perform psychiatrist diagnostic assessments for all referred patients.
Provide direct patient care services within area of expertise.
Provides medication management.
Assess, plan, document and evaluate patient needs and treatment.
Provides consultation for primary care providers regarding patient treatment.
Provide intervention and referral for patients experiencing suicidal/homicidal ideation.
Maintains a practice that is culturally and linguistically sensitive, using interpreters and other assistance as appropriate.
Provide counseling, crisis intervention and advocacy to all patients and their families, taking into account their unique cultural backgrounds. Psycho education around such issues as high-risk behavior, mental health, addictions, and domestic violence is also a major component of the job duties.
Refers patients, as appropriate, to specialists and other practitioners and facilities.
Reviews patient charts and ensures that appropriate treatment plans are developed and followed
Works collaboratively with other care givers regarding patient education and rehabilitation including promotion of mental and physical health.
Maintains collaborative relationships with other physicians, social works, administration and other clinical staff.
Provides consultation to the on-call physician for mental health emergencies.
Collaborates with efforts of the Patient Care Committee to monitor and improve the quality of patient care provided.
Maintains productivity as outlined in contracted agreement.
Demonstrates sensitivity and responds appropriately to verbal and non-verbal communications of patients, family, and co-workers.
Maintains patient's right to privacy, confidentiality and is HIPPA compliant.
Assures dignity in the provision of care.
Consistently utilizes good judgment in the resolution of problems, clinical and non-clinical.
Possesses the ability to act independently and is willing to make decisions utilizing good judgment.
Has the ability to visualize and anticipate new problems and to be part of the problem solving process.
Participate as an integral part in the interdisciplinary health care team for the provision of services to patients and families. As a member of the primary care team, this position is integrated into a variety of clinic activities such as high-risk case reviews, team meetings, protocol and procedure development, the provision of and receipt of staff in-service training and program development.
Provide technical assistance and training for other members of the primary care team regarding psychotropic medications and mental illness.
Participate in community and agency outreach activities that identify, recruit, and/or educate our patient population.
Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
Is pleasant, courteous, and considerate of patients and co-workers.
Attends all required and pertinent meetings.
Attends supervision as scheduled.
Maintains clinical competence through ongoing medical education and training

facility Health Professional Shortage Area designation with a score of 13 out of a possible 21. We are an approved National Health Service Corps loan repayment site.
The National Health Services Corps is currently offering a generous loan repayment program for a 2 year commitment. There is also a state loan repayment program in Massachusetts that will pay up to $25,000 per year in loan repayment up to a total of $75,000, for physicians who practice in a community health center. Loan repayment is not available to physicians on visas. Physicians cannot receive NHSC and state loan repayment at the same time. Both processes are competitive so we cannot guarantee awards but we have a very good record of having loan repayment approved.
paying up to $10,000 in relocation costs, up to $5000 in legal fees for physicians with visa issues, and up to $1000 for interview expenses.
Health insurance-Harvard Pilgrim HMO. We pay 75% of a family or single plan for full time employees, starting the first of the month after hire. Dental- Guardian Dental, starts at 6 months. We pay 50% family or single for full time employees.
Malpractice-fully covered through Federal Tort Claims Act. We also purchase gap coverage for added security.
Short term and long term disability-starts after one year. We pay long term in full and share cost of short term.
Life-We pay in full for coverage equal to your annual salary, after one year. You can purchase additional insurance for yourself and family members if you want to.
Earned time-34 days per year, includes vacation, sick, personal, holiday. This starts accruing after 3 months so first year accrual is less than 34 days. Having paid time off in one pot makes it a lot more flexible.
CME-One week paid time if you sign a one-year contract. We also pay up to $2000 per year in course fees.
Hospital dues-we pay in full.
Pension-after 1 year, we match your contribution up to 3% of salary. You can invest more if you wish. You have many investment options. The rep from the pension company will help you sort out all the options.
