Founded in 1636, Providence is one of the oldest coastal cities in the USA. Today, its metro area of 1.6 million extends into southern Massachusetts. This “Creative Capital” offers a thriving arts community and a wealth of educational resources. This is the home of Brown University, Johnson & Wales (school for the culinary arts), and the Rhode Island School of Design, with a remarkable museum holding one of the largest art collections in the country. Youths attend several excellent private schools and a very strong public school system.

As one of the busiest deep water ports on the east coast, Providence has thriving industries, and enjoys many distractions too, such as the peaceful Waterplace Park, a park with a zoo and a botanical center, and a superb Museum of Natural History with Planetarium. Recreational opportunities are all around – with a modern skating center, hiking and biking everywhere, and of course all types of boating. Choose from a range of home settings: new condos in the revitalized downtown, welcoming neighborhoods in numerous suburbs, or even country acreage not far away.

Sports fans love the proximity to Foxboro, MA – home of New England Patriots football – only 15 minutes away. In 45 minutes, you can drive to Boston for the theatre, ballet or a Red Sox or Celtics game… to Cape Cod for a peaceful day of fishing or sailing or antiquing…. or to Newport RI to tour the famous mansions, or enjoy a relaxing beach day. New York City is within reach too, just 3 hours away.
